The milongueros I interviewed danced with these great orchestras of the best era of tango. They danced with these live orchestras playing in the same room, can you imagine dancing to Troilo and he is right there in front of you? Imagine!
I danced with these milongueros who were there, in this era. I talked with them and learned from them. Most of them are not here any more; but, I carry them in my heart and their dance is with me. I would LOVE to share my Tango heritage with you.

In July 2026, Monica will visit the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area to share her experience; and on this occasion, she brings an exceptional proposal for her workshops.
Unlike her usual workshops —where she defines the curriculum— she will offer a fully personalized experience, designed together with the students.
A hybrid program combining virtual preparation with in-person classes tailored specifically to participants. The virtual preparation will occur over the month preceding the in-person workshop.
Once registered, participants will have a direct exchange with Monica, where they will:
- Introduce themselves
- Share their tango experiences
- Suggest the topics they wish to explore
Based on this input, Monica will design a customized program of four in-person classes tailored specifically to the group.
During the month prior to her arrival, participants will begin working remotely through:
- Personalized communication
- Shared materials (videos and/or music)
- Building a common foundation to enrich the in-person experience
The result is a deeply focused learning process rarely offered in tango: a true co-creation between teacher and students.

Spots are very limited.
In-person classes (1 h 20 min each) will be held on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19, from 2:00 to 3:20 PM and from 3:30 to 4:50 PM. Classes will start on time. Please arrive a few minutes before.

In the over 20 years of dancing and studying milonguero style tango, I have worked with numerous teachers. Among the few who stand out is Monica Paz. She was born into the tango culture in Buenos Aires, and has devoted her career to passing on all that she learned from the original milongueros. Sadly, most have passed, but even they could not teach because they ‘just did it’. Monica danced and talked with them over many years in order to figure out what they did to make their dance so special. She has developed an effective course of study that passes on their secrets.
